Tip 5: How to share a resource in the library
Last week, in #TipTuesday we discussed how to @ mention other members in a post – if you missed it, you can view it here.
Now, let's use this week's #CommunityTip to review how to share resources in the community library.
Share a Resource
Do you have an interesting article or resource you would like to share? Adding resources to the community library allows your peers to view and download documents, videos or other files.
How?
1. Click on the 'Library' tab option in the navigation bar within the community.
2. Click on 'Create Entry' on the right of the screen under the Library intro section.
3. Add a 'Title', choose a folder from the drop down, add a description for the resource, then choose an 'Entry Type'. Add your name as the owner of the file, then add a thumbnail if you want to choose the preview displayed. Then click next.
4. 'Choose and Upload' your document or resource and upload. You can either search your computer for the file, or upload it from another source such as Google or Dropbox. Once you've selected you're file, you'll need to also click Upload.
5. Click "Finish" to complete the process of uploading your library resource, or you can add a further description to the resource by clicking Next instead, then clicking finish once you've completed this part of the process.
6. After you have finished uploading your resource, you can copy the link to your file by clicking the three dots next to the file entry and hitting 'Copy Permalink'. Paste this link into your discussion post to share a link to your resource with other members.
Note: you can also share a picture or video by embedding it in a regular post when you're writing it. Just copy and paste, or click 'Insert/Edit Image' or 'Insert/Edit Video' in the editing bar when you start a post, and follow the instructions in the pop up box.
As always, if you have any questions please leave them below!
