A social work professional identity is constructed through education and training, including workplace experience. For students transitioning to professional work post-qualifying, there is a period of significant adjustment, requiring an anchor from which professional identity can continue to develop and grow. This study explored how newly qualified social workers perceived supervision as the string to their kites, anchoring them to their professional foundations. Read the article here.
Presenter bio:
Lynn Bruning has worked in both the community and government sector, in the fields of children and families, family violence and sexual violence/assault for over 20 years. Currently Lynn is coordinating social work student placements and is the coordinator and tutor on the post graduate certificate in professional supervision programme at NMIT based in Nelson. In 2021, she completed a Master of Social Work qualification at Massey University.
