Presenter Bio:

Dr Landon Chinen is a pioneering leader in social work, dedicated to empowering Indigenous youth by bridging traditional knowledge with contemporary frameworks. Earning his Doctorate in Social Work, Dr Chinen was nominated for the Innovation Capstone for his groundbreaking work on integrating cultural training and youth councils within organisations to ensure they remain accountable to their communities. As the Manager of Youth Leadership at Liliʻuokalani Trust, he plays a key role in shaping youth leadership programs across the Hawaiian Islands, ensuring that youth voices are at the forefront of the organisation’s mission.

Beyond his work at the Trust, Dr Chinen is also the Vice President of ʻŌahi Entertainment Weddings and Events, where he nurtures the creative potential of the next generation, empowering them to take on leadership roles within the company. Additionally, as the founder of Weloana, a nonprofit organisation, he is committed to supporting Native Hawaiians in pursuing higher education and cultural enrichment through financial assistance and dedicated cultural programmes.

Dr Chinen’s passion lies in uplifting the next generation and ensuring they are not only heard but also active participants in shaping the future.
