In this webinar recording Jo will introduce the skill of formulation and explore why it is so important for mental health practice. Drawing from her recent article on formulation, written by a team of mental health social workers, Jo discussed some principles for a strong social work lens on formulation. Participants were encouraged to bring their social work knowledge and values when co-creating a narrative formulation. This approach can support social work practice with whaiora and strengthen the social work voice with multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs). Read the article here.
Presenter bio:Jo is a lecturer on the postgraduate mental health and addictions programme at AUT. She worked in mental health services for 16 years. After initially struggling with her social work identity within MDTs, she is committed to supporting other social workers to develop and celebrate their professional identity.
Thanks Jo,
How refreshing to hear our language and our 'way' as a positive contribution to MDT'S and Formulation. I love the cultural/social/psycho/biological matrix too. Thank you for the recognition of an indigenous social worker's lens for Māori. Nga mihi RT
Morena, I really enjoyed this presentation.
Is it possible to download the slides please and thank you. Karen H.
