Building family violence workforce capability

When:  May 30, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 (NZST)

Come along to this webinar to find out more about the frameworks and tools available to support you when working with family violence and sexual violence.

The Specialist Family Violence Organisational Standards (SOS) and the Entry to Expert Family Violence Capability Framework (E2E) were launched in May 2022 by Hon Marama Davidson, Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence and are the first step in building the family violence workforce capability. Karis Vesey and Glynette Gainfort, along with other National Trainers from Te Puna Aonui have been visiting communities since mid-April and are looking forward to sharing this mahi with managers, team leaders and staff throughout Aotearoa. Karis and Glynette will be introducing Te Aorerekura: the national strategy to eliminate family violence and sexual violence and the workforce and organisational capability frameworks, specifically the SOS and E2E. They will discuss what implementing the SOS and E2E means for specialist and generalist NGO workforces and for government agencies involved in Action 11 of the Te Aorerekura Action Plan. They will also speak about the tools developed to implement these frameworks and what this may mean for you as a practitioner.
If you would like your organisation to be an early adopter for embedding the capabilities set out in the SOS and E2E, contributing to how we test and learn, or to be a champion within your community, please contact us at jvworkforce@tepunaaonui.govt.nz.

Karis Vesey – National Trainer
Tēnā koutou,
Ko Karis Vesey tōku ingoa.
Ko Ngāpuhi te iwi, ko Ngātikorokoro, ko Ngātiwharara, ko Te Pouka, ko Te Hikutu, ngā hapu. No Hokianga oku tupuna, e noho ana au ki Kaikohekohe.
I’ve worked for the past 11 years with the NCIWR, at multiple women’s refuges, transitional housing services throughout the motu and also at the national office doing Service Development. I now work at Te Puna Aonui as one of the national trainers (family violence) for Te Aorerekura: National Strategy to eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence. Looking forward to having kōrero with you all.

Glynette Gainfort – National Trainer
Kia ora,
Ko Glynette Gainfort tōku ingoa. I have been a registered social worker for 17 years and have qualifications and experience as a family therapist. I have worked many years in Strengthening Families, Relationships Aotearoa, and the last 10 years as a specialist family violence practitioner, educator, and practice leader, both with the victims/survivors and with men who use violence.
I am very passionate about working to address and combat FV in our whānau, communities and Aotearoa. I work from a gendered analysis but also believe a whānau-centred response is vital to work towards FV elimination.
Currently I am enjoying working with the Te Puna Aonui team and bringing my community and front-line lens to this new mahi.
I come from a large family, am a mother of 5 adult children and grandmother of 8, live in beautiful Tauranga and enjoy the coastline and Maunga here.
