Our Board

Our Board governs the Association, setting the strategic direction and providing oversight of the organisation, on behalf of the members. Our Board has seven members, five members of the Association who are elected by the membership. The remaining two members of the Board are co-opted onto the Board (and can also be members of the Association). In order to ensure appropriate tangata-ō te whenua representation, a minimum of two Board members must be tangata-ō te whenua. One Board member must also hold a recognised financial qualification.

Board members serve a three-year term on the Board, and are able to remain on the Board for a maximum of nine years.

The Board meets at least six times per year, and has a number of subcommittees to support with specific areas of governance. The Board is supported by a kaumātua, who provides strategic advice relating to tangata-ō te whenua.
