ANZASW History

ANZASW was established in 1964. Our history is documented on the ANZASW Digital History Project.

Our Logo

Our logo appeared for the first time at the New Zealand Association of Social Workers Conference in August 1986, held on the Turangawaewae Marae at which the Tangata Whenua Takawaenga o Aotearoa (caucus of tangata-ō te whenua members) was formed.

The logo depicts an equal partnership between the indigenous people of the land and all other people who came after them. It symbolises the bicultural commitment undertaken by the Manuhiri and Tangata Whenua social workers to work together in a professional and culturally appropriate way.
